Volunteer with us!
There are many different ways to volunteer at Clarkston Family Farm:
Animal Care
We have chickens, bunnies, goats, pigs, mini horses and a donkey that all need food, cleaning, and love on a regular basis. If you are interested in joining our Animal Care Team, contact our Animal Care Coordinator, Lauren Gitner, through the link below to get involved!
Gardening
Gardening volunteers contribute to the production of vegetables, herbs, fruits, and flowers to use in our kids programming and sell in our Sunflower Market. Typical tasks include: Planting / Watering / Harvesting / Weeding
*New for 2025: We are having Garden Impact Days on regular intervals throughout the growing season. They will be held as follows:
Summertime hours (July – September 2025):
- Every Tuesday at 9 am, or by appointment with Deana
These are not the only days that we need help in the gardens, but these are set days that we for sure will be there and you can just come to the farm to help or just talk to Deana and check us out. There are many other opportunities to garden; for example, helping harvest flowers for our Sip & Snip events in August and September… but please contact our Master Gardener, and Garden Volunteer Coordinator, Deana Richardson, through the link below to get involved. If you have time that works for you other than 9 am on Tuesdays, send her a note and Deana will be happy to talk with you to see what can be worked out. Thank you for your interest and we hope to see you around the farm!
Other Opportunities
There are many other ways to volunteer at Clarkston Family Farm:

- Team, Organization & Community Group Opportunities
For all other opportunities please contact us through the general volunteer form, and we will help you find an opportunity! We welcome helpers of all ages and abilities (adult supervision is required), and would love to have you join us!
Interested in Supporting the Farm in Other Ways?
Legacy Brick Fundraiser
Are you an amazing friend of Clarkston Family Farm and want to support our mission and at the same time memorialize your support of the farm in a very personal way? If so, then you’ll be as excited as we are with this new community effort to help your favorite non-profit educational farm…. our Legacy Brick Fundraiser.
This impactful project supports our mission while creating a visible recognition of your meaningful contribution to our farm, a place where all learners can connect with nature, learn and grow together.
There are so many of you who have contributed to our farm’s success, or just love the time you’ve spent here and want to support us. We know that our farm is a special place for many of you…. and that’s why we know you’ll love this opportunity. This first phase of the legacy bricks will be placed in our Hoop House, most likely with installation in January 2026 (so perhaps a surprise Christmas gift?). There will be more opportunities to purchase bricks in the future, but this first installment has limited availability (and an ordering deadline of December 15th to allow time for engraving, shipping and installation). Don’t miss your chance… click the link to learn more or purchase a brick!
The Clarkston Family Farm Growing Fund
Will you help us build a lasting foundation?
Over the past eight years you have watched us grow and create our many interactive teaching gardens and orchards, enjoyed our farm animals, and supported our pathways to possibilities project allowing us to have barrier free access to our beloved farm for all learners regardless of age, ability or income. You have been an important part of our grassroots community effort, by kids for kids, bringing a map, a dream and a mission to life by building a non-profit educational farm that now serves students from all over Southeast Michigan.
Over 36,000 individuals in 2025!
Everyone that comes to the farm benefits from the welcoming, safe and positive community gathering space we provide. Our farm team is frugal with our financial resources, and works tirelessly to fundraise, grant write and strive toward innovative ways to stretch our funds, keeping our mission at the heart of it all. While we have grown tenfold in the last few years, we still are run almost entirely by volunteers. However, like many non-profits, fundraising is our biggest challenge. We need your help to create a strong and lasting foundation that will help guarantee that our farm can continue to be a blessing to our community for many years to come.
Please become part of this legacy by contributing today!

Sponsor our Farm Animals
With help from our friends in the community, the Clarkston Family Farm will provide a space where kids can be kids again, learning and exploring, helping things grow, cooking and tasting and playing in nature. One of the major ways that kids interact at the farm is through our animals. They bring alot of joy to kids and adults alike, and we do have a volunteer animal care team in place. However, keeping our animals healthy costs $500 per month in food, and $5,000 per year for veterinary care. As a non-profit, this is a huge expense for us. If you have a special place in your heart for animals, perhaps this is the perfect sponsorship opportunity for you! Click the link for more information.
