Our Program Descriptions
Field Trips
Field trips to the farm, also known as our Learning Adventures, were created to give our participants a chance to experience nature based education. These sessions are focused around broad themes and lead learners to think about topics such as Trees, Trails, and Tracks. Sessions are age appropriate and have hands-on learning that incorporates literature, movement, and music. We will integrate outdoor experiences and current curriculum. Many sessions will have a take-home project and extension activities will be offered for teachers or families to further the discussion and learning back in the classroom or at home.
Summer Camps
Pond sampling and water quality studies are one of the many activities that we will be doing at Camp WILD. Our learning is always fun, always interactive and student directed and very often directly supports STEM. Next generation science standards and common core are embedded in our camp program. Yep, learning through play while building new neuropathways, it’s how we roll. Registration for our summer Camp Wild /Sprouts Programs are posted mid-January and fill quickly! Scroll down for more information on our summer camp programs.
Workshops
Family oriented, hands on learning – fun – workshops! Past recent workshops have included: Cookie Decorating, Brooms and Brews – The Magical Power of Herbs, Mosaic Tile Making, Fairy Houses, and Gourds Galore Birdhouse Building. Check out our Events tab, or our Facebook page to see what events are coming and for registration links. And if you have a talent, craft, or nature-based knowledge that you’d like to share with others, send us a message to discuss hosting your very own workshop at our farm in one of our unique venues.
Homesteading Club
Homesteading Club is a great opportunity for children ages 3-10 to experience hands-on, weekly nature education (under 5 attends with caregiver). We focus our lessons and activities around farm animals, homesteading principals, and plants. Each seasonal series will vary from 4-8 weeks and include activities such as animal interaction (and how to care for them / anatomy / life cycles), plant interaction (identifying/ growing cycles, etc), themed art projects and snacks, cooking, music, games and more. Two co-directors are present at each session. Scroll down for more information on our Homesteading Club programs.

Camp Wild is a unique, popular and award winning summer program that has been successfully engaging young people for almost a decade. It is directed by Chelsea O’Brien, B.S., an experienced and certified environmental educator as well as founder and executive director for the Clarkston Family Farm. Teaching team also includes certified teachers, master gardeners, farmers, naturalists, artists, and camp counselors selected from trained National Honors Society CHS students and aspiring teachers. Great camper to teaching team ratio of no more than 5 to 1. We also employ activity station leaders and junior camp counselors for the most safe and engaged program available for your young explorer! Our teaching team pays special attention to dividing campers into color groups based on age, parental preference and developmental appropriateness. Groups are carefully organized and have never more than twelve campers per group to allow for our “move and do” approach to learning! Each day of Camp Wild highlights a different ecosystem: Monday – Wonderful Wetlands, Tuesday – What’s Under Our Feet, Wednesday – Marvelous Meadows, Thursday – Fantastic Forests, and Friday – Getting Our Thumbs Green.
Activities include: Each day campers will enjoy interaction with our farm animals, games/play, art, a make and take craft, some type of snack or tasting, and music. We also work hard to have fun “sneaky” science each day, offering STEM curriculum that is developmentally appropriate, supporting thinking and learning in ways that are fun and always outside in nature.
New this year to our half day Sessions 1 & 2 is the opportunity for your camper to stay for the afternoon as well. We are hoping that this will provide more flexibility of dates for all campers, but still allow for a half day session for kids who prefer them. The morning sessions will provide center based learning and themed activities. The optional afternoon (FULL DAY) includes time for lunch (brought by campers), and more self-directed (but always supervised) play, crafts, reading clouds, trail hikes, nature themed games, farm to table cooking labs, music and art. Note that afternoons are optional for Sessions 1 & 2 only as Sessions 3, 4, & Arts are full day camps.
Camp Wild About the Arts uses the same ecosystem themes as our other Camp Wild sessions as a backdrop for exploration in dance, visual art and music. Monday is rhythm and pattern, Tuesday is tone and color, Wednesday is line and melody, Thursday is Texture and Harmony, Friday is shape and composition. In this camp only, we will be showcasing our learning on Friday from 12:30-2:30 pm for parents, as well as local community during a Festival of the Arts event. Light refreshments are served during this fun and exciting student gallery, musical and dance performance.
